Prof. Anton Schleiss presents HYDROPOWER EUROPE at the 11th ICOLD Europe Symposium in Crete, Greece

Prof. Anton Schleiss was invited as a keynote speaker at the 11th ICOLD European Club Symposium in Chania, Crete, 2-4 October 2019 which attracted about 200 participants. The keynote entitled ‘The importance of hydropower development for the energy transition in Europe’ was given on October 3, 2019. Prof. Schleiss highlighted that hydropower has still still a considerable untapped potential in Europe and has all the characteristics to serve as an excellent catalyst for a successful energy transition. However, this will require a more flexible, efficient, environmentally and socially acceptable approach to increasing hydropower production to complement wind and solar energy production. He made also a futuristic outlook on technological developments in the hydropower sector until 2050.

The World Hydropower Congress 2019

HYDROPOWER EUROPE took part in the World Hydropower Congress 2019 in Paris, between the 14th and 16th May.

The World Hydropower Congress brings together industry, government, finance, civil society and academia to set priorities for the hydropower sector.

This year’s theme was ‘The Power of Water in a Sustainable, Interconnected World’, focusing on hydropower’s role in delivering on the Paris Agreement and the Sustainable Development Goals.

HYDROPOWER EUROPE presented its vision and roadmap, and how it aims to be one of the key players working towards the Energy Transition.

The EU Sustainable Energy Week 2019

We are pleased to announce that HYDROPOWER EUROPE will participate in the Networking Village during the EU Sustainable Energy Week 2019 in Brussels. Our stand will be ready for you at the Energy Fair on 19th June 2019 from 14:00 to 18:00 at the Residence Palace (Rue de la Loi 175, 1000 Brussels).
