FIThydro European Stakeholder Workshop on Fish-Friendly Hydropower
Dates: | 28/01/2020 11:00 - 29/01/2020 15:00 |
Description: | The workshop is scheduled to take place at the Herman Teirlinck building in Brussels. It will start at 11:00 (registration) on 28 January and finish by 15:00 on 29 January. This event is being organised in the context of FIThydro, a 4-year EU-funded H2020 research project (2016-2020), which addresses decision support in commissioning and operating hydropower plants by use of existing and innovative technologies. FIThydro concentrates on mitigation measures and strategies to develop cost-effective environmental solutions and on strategies to avoid fish damage and enhance population developments. Technical results from FIThydro research will be presented, that can directly support better and more transparent implementation of EU and national policies for renewable energy production and aquatic ecosystems protection. Participating experts will be invited to give their feedback on the added value of tools developed by FIThydro for decision-making and to exchange on the needs for further action and research for more fish-friendly hydropower. DRAFT PROGRAMME Parallel discussion groups at the workshop will address different topics:
The parallel discussion groups will serve as a platform to discuss FIThydro’s outputs relevant to the topic as well as exchange on other relevant activities carried out in European countries by different stakeholders.
